Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls (Part 17): Menswear Inspired

I'm girly as a girl can be.   I have come to embrace all my curvy parts including my wide hips and   disproportiately-bigger-than-my-frame chest.      I never attempted  to blend in in the male-dominated field I work in --   I dress in the frilliest ruffles and always favoring  a cutesy pink. 

Recently, I've been under some kind of a spell of the XY chromosome. I'm finding myself  gravitating towards boxy tees, distressed boyfriend jeans -- and for this post, tuxedo pants and tuxedo blazers
 Not to have my XX chromosome scream in jealousy though, I balanced out this outfit with a  bow crossbody bag  (in hot pink!!) and bow pumps. 
Don't be surprised if I rock a mustache for next time.  I promise I'll have it dyed in hot pink too -- because I'm all for incorporating the best of best worlds!

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls (Part 16) - Frenzied State of Temps

  Open-toed booties is the perfect solution when your feet suffers from  weather-induced bipolar affective disorder.    You know when  your ankles feel cold but your toes feel warm!

   
It's the perfect choice of footwear for this week's temps -- a frenzied state  alternating between winter and spring.      Did I mention it's already May?  May!  
      This weather is not good for my sanity. But rather than taking mood stabilizing medications,  I go for one treatment I know works for sure -- shopping!  After a few shirts, pants and this one lovely Halston Heritage number, I'm as happy as the sun again!
  And if the weather continues like this, my next purchase would be a turtleneck sleeveless cropped top -- for when my neck is cold but my arms and abs feel hot!

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls (Part 15) - Distraction vs Alteration

If I lived in the prehistoric times, I'd probably die of hypothermia before I turn 8. 

Should I live past it, my whole life would be spent in dire cold and without any bodily coverup.   

I'd be the talk of the entire tribe for being that cave lady who dresses herself in dirt and not much else.

And whenever it rains, I would probably resort to leaves strategically placed here and there and pray that the wind would not blow them away.

Sorry for the melodramatic intro.  

All I wanted to say is that I could not sew to save my life. 

This lovely dress sat in my closet unworn because I intended to take it in a bit 

but lacked the skill and the will to do it.  

I thought of just plastering dirt and glueing leaves randomly all over it.

That would have worked well.  

Distraction is always key to hiding flaws. 

But I was too darn lazy to do that too.

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls (Part 14): New Year's Resolution

Mine officially ended, broken, stomped upon and severely beaten a few days ago. 

I have been good NOT shopping until my enablers friends 

bombarded me of photos of their shopping loot.  

An innocent trip to the mall with them just to 'browse' around turned into 

a major spending spree and before I knew it,

I'm back into my shopaholic self once again. 

"I want this jacket."

"I want it NOW." 

"..and I want them in ALL colors!"

Oh and let's not forget this fun sunglasses that's truly a work of art!

My shopaholic self just had a grand comeback.

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls (Part 13) - Gray Colorblock

Allow me to explain my absence here...

So the past few weeks had been so busy for me.
I attended a 3-day Zumba Instructors Convention in LA and had the grandest time!
While there, I also got my license from AFAA (Aerobics & Fitness Association of America)
a day before the convention.
This meant I danced, shook my booty, wiggled, jumped
and body waved for a total of 30 hours in a span of 4 days.

But that's not the reason for my absence.  At least not all of it.

Following said partying convention , I slipped on my diet and exercise for a few days
thinking I already burned 4000 calories and deserved to slack for a bit.

Such days of slacking led me to exercise really hard the next weekend --
running for longer than usual, lifting heavier weights than usual, and dancing longer than usual.
Apparently, it was all too much for the body and my big toe suffered a minor fracture.

But who would have thought minor fracture equals MAJOR pain!
I'm wearing toe splints and was told to rest my feet for a few weeks.
No closed-toe shoes, no heels, no walking long distances, no dancing, no working out!


So until my poor little feet get well, I won't be able to take blog photos.
Glad I have a few unposted outfit photos from weeks back.   They'll have to do for now!

As promised, I'm not quite done with my Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's blog series just yet! 

This time, I'm styling this cropped blazer from the collection with a colorful sheath. 

Speaking of colorful, I always get compliments from my guy teammates 

whenever I wear something colorful.

On the other end, I get more compliments from my female teammates

when I wear something neutral or grayish or black, telling me that I look slimmer! 

Hmmm....

I lied!  The last post is NOT my last on the Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's post series.

I knew I wanted to wear this vintage red Dior knit for Christmas dinner over at a friend's house.
But instead of pairing it with jeans,
I decided to wear it with this Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's tuxedo leggings instead.

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls - Part 3 (New Travel Adventure)

I finally found out where my next assignment is and... drumroll please...  off I go to Central America!  

Though I will miss the short Monday morning commute to Dallas and guaranteed weekends at home, 

I do have to say I'm excited to explore this part of the world and add new pins on our travel map!

What I'm most excited though is planning for my office outfits!  

Our dress code is going to be business formal and I expect to get all dressy and still not be overdressed -- the client is a department store retailer after all. 

At the same time, I do intend to travel light -- an art I've perfected over my many years of traveling.

Let's see if I could strike a good balance between the two!

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls - Part 2 (Thanksgiving)

I had this little black lace dress sitting in my closet for months now not knowing how to style it.
Finally, an aha moment arrived as soon as I bought this Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls tuxedo leggings.


I figured Thanksgiving dinner is the perfect opportune moment to wear something that's a whole lot classy, a little sexy and wee bit edgy!
This black outfit was the perfect backdrop to the star of the night, which turned out to be perfectly golden, tender and most succulent!

That or I just had too much wine and so everything I gobbled that night seemed
extraordinarily tasty.

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohls - Part 1

As I posted on my twitter/instagram, I got completely carried away with the Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's collection.   

I must have bought about 16 pieces or so; with some styles in multiple colors!   

I know!  Over the top, right?!

I can't remember being this giddy and excited about any other designer collabs in the past.  

For me, this is home run!  

First off is the peplum top which is most flattering specially for anyone with my same body type as I have: busty and curvy.   

I didn't think much of it from the online pics but as soon as I tried it on, 

I immediately declared it a WINNER!   And winning pieces must be purchased in multiples so I got this in pink and black.   

Too bad the clover color sold out right away, just hours after it was stocked at the stores. 

Second is this tuxedo leggings which I just love, love love! 

It fits so nicely and very slimming.   

My only regret is I should have bought this in multiples for back-up 

because I know right away I'll wear this out from constant use.
